Modern Classrooms
Our brief was to create versatile classrooms, maximizing the space and giving a clean up to date learning environment. The majority of the classrooms have a dual role so the furniture needed to be mobile, flexible and durable. It needed to form modern aesthetically pleasing spaces where people want to learn. RED SPACE worked alongside City Lit to design and space plan specified classrooms, using our product knowledge and design skills we worked together to produce layouts, procured samples of furniture for trials and created mood boards.
Classroom Furniture
With large numbers of students attending each course space within the classroom is at a premium. The FourCast Wheeler is perfect for education establishments as it embraces the shift away from traditional class room interiors towards an environment that encompass the latest technology and enhances the best work/study practices.
For the tutor we specified a modular table in white MFC with 4 silver legs and a FourCast Line armchair with a chrome skid base, anthracite shell and gun metal grey vinyl seat pad.
Furniture
The courses offered by City Lit are very diverse, some requiring a more traditional classroom environment however these rooms still need to have flexible furniture that can easily be reconfigured by a tutor.
The Kite folding table is ideal for the classroom environment as they are simple to move, fold and store. The shape ensures that each person has their own work space without having to straddle a table leg. Their flexibility means they can be quickly reconfigured by one person into a new classroom layout. The tables also nest together meaning they can be easily folded and stored without any heavy lifting. All the casters can be locked ensuring the table is stable; this also means there is no need for a linking device.
